The Wine

Sangiovese is the dominant grape of Chianti, and it makes up 90% of this wine, with Merlot filling out the portfolio, so to speak. This is a light-bodied red featuring cherries, leather tobacco pouch and mushrooms.

This wine is produced in good quantities, and at this price, is a great candidate for your house red. The Gabbiano Chianti from 2015 was named to Wine Spectator's "Top 100 Wines of 2019".

The Winery

Hundreds of years ago, the castle that was home to the family behind this vineyard and winery was protected by a very impressive night in gold-colored armor - the Cavaliere d'Oro - depicted on the label.

This is a versatile wine meant for food, and it pairs with a wide variety of courses, from nuts and cheeses to wild boar, pulled pork, lamb and even roast poultry.
