This is a
French Chardonnay like few other. It
hails from Gascony in the Southwest of France, land of D’Artagnan of Three Musketeers
fame, as well as King Henry IV. But it’s
a rarity in those parts – an estate wine at a co-op price.
wine balances delicacy and strength through its good structure (wine geek speak
for “enough acidity to balance lushness without being cloying). Barrel-fermented and aged in fine-grained
French oak, its subtle aromas include floral notes, creamery butter and a touch
of vanilla. Shades of vanilla oak underline the Chardonnay’s well-rounded
palate and aromatic intensity.
