The Wine

(100% Cabernet Franc) Though Julien Fouet is proud of all his wines, his red wines are what makes his chest swell. And this is his second vintage of this “Natural” wine – six days of carbonic maceration, no fining or filtration and unsulfured! As the importer writes -

"to describe it as “delicious” is to understate the indecently charming beauty of its varietal character."

“Let us drink Fruits” is the virtual translation of Buvon des Fruits, and apt way to describe this glug-worthy effort. After the U.S. market's rapturous reception of his inaugural vintage, and rapid depletion of its modest inventory, there is a much more substantial allocation for us this year. But the wise lover of Natural wines would not hesitate to bring in a case or two.

The Winery

In short order this domaine has earned blue-chip status through a succession of vintages with irresistibly pure and generous wines. The wines of Fouet demonstrate all the fruity charm the Loire can offer.

The current proprietor, Julien Fouet, has grown in stature with each passing year, especially since the premature passing of his father in 2016. Having long used organic practices, he is currently being certified by Ecocert. This is the third time I've brought in one of Fouet's wines in the past five or six years, as the domaine’s exceptional quality becomes increasingly evident!
