The Wine

The Moschofilero (MOSS coe FEE leh row) is one of my favorite white grapes from Greece. Its wonderful floral scent that makes it difficult for the taster to move the glass from under their nose. But please do so, eventually, and experience the refreshing mouthful of this wine. Its medium weight and refreshing finish beg to be paired with fish simply grilled with lemon, olive oil and fresh herbs.

This wine hails from Mantinia, acknowledged to be the place where Greece's Moschofilero shows its highest expression - and this is an exciting example. Drink now through 2022.

The Producer

Takis Xigoros made a good living in the marketing of Messinian goods for some 35 years before launching Inomessiniaki winery in 1998. His ambitious goal was to support and promote the superb grape varieties produced by the Messinian vineyards. It was a big bet he placed - although the grapes were known to be of high quality, Inomessiniaki was the first producer from the Kalamata region. Today, Inomessiniaki has controls the whole production 'from grape to glass' with estate vineyards and collaborating viticulturists.

Takis Xigoros' two sons now run the winery with enthusiasm, hard work and a great love of wine making. Their stated goal is to express all their love and care in every drop of wine.
