The Wine

Some wines are better at expressing a sense of place, or perhaps some places are better at expressing themselves through wine. In this wine you'll find the marriage of both - a non-interventionist winemaking team and a place with lots to say!

Lean. Complex. Racy. A food wine boasting a long and lingering lemony finish that goes on and on. If the word "refreshing" was ever an apt description, this would be the time to use it. ABV = 13.5% in this rare, age-worthy Chardonnay. Drink now through 2023.

The Winery

Josep (Pepik) Chromy escaped from Czechoslovakia in 1950 at the age of 19, landing in Australia's remote Tasmania many hungry months later. Over the ensuing decades he built a thriving meat business, and invested some of his fortune in the wine business in the early 1990's. Though his wineries were all successful, it wasn't until the age of 76 that he reached his greatest achievement - the launch of Josef Chromy Wines, Tasmania's most successful new winery.
