A crazy good wine and a perfect example of how a bit of bottle age softens a red wine, bringing out flavors and aromas never experienced by those with insufficient patience for a bit of cellar aging. Look for mouth-watering aromas of dried cherry, rose, leather and sage. Flavor profile features black raspberry, espresso and some hints of licorice or sweet tar.
Serve with your favorite meat dish, or even bolder versions of poultry (Coq au Vin, or grilled/smoked chicken). And don't hesitate to open this during the cocktail hour either.
This is the current release of Winemaker Ian Brand's Bordeaux Blend, and you can taste it right now at what I estimate to be near its peak. Drink now through 2014. Only 130 cases produced.
