The Wine

Unfined, unfiltered, and minimally extracted, this wine is mouth-filling and elegant at the same time. 13.2% alcohol. Aromas of tart cherry pie follow through on the palate, which is notable for its rich, soft texture despite the good acidity level. Drink now through 2023.

The Winery

In the small town of Boonville, at the Eastern end of the Anderson Valley, just across from the fair grounds and next door to Lauren's restaurant is the new Maryetta tasting room. It's located inside the tastefully renovated "Live Oak Building", which in prior incarnations served as a house of worship for local fundamentalists, a parts warehouse, and one or two other things during the 15 years we've been coming to the valley.

Maryetta is a small endeavor, with just about 500 cases in total production - including one Rose of Pinot Noir and their various blended and single-vineyard Pinots. We met co-owner Phil Jones, who sells glass bottles to wineries to pay the bills, and is building this wine brand as part of his retirement plan. And with some of the valley's best vineyard sources (Valenti, Nash Mill, and other great organic vineyards now in negotiation). Stock up on these wines now, before they get discovered by the rest of the wine world. You'll be glad you did.
