The WineThe wine is still young and not formed - it's a bit of a teenager who still looks at its shoes when meeting new people, but is on the verge of greatness. Even in its late adolescence, the wine teases the nose with aromas of baked black and red (cherries) fruits, sweet spices and hints of mocha, tar/licorice and cedar that follow through on the palate, finishing with notes of balsamic and pencil lead. The tannins are noticeable on the finish now, leaving the mouth with strong tea-like dryness, though by the time you read this they will already be softening and integrating nicely.
Fermentated in steel tank, then two years in French barrels, of which a third are new each year.
Will peak 2026 - 2030. A precious 250 cases produced.

The Winery
As with many European countries, inheritance laws in Italy divide a family property among the siblings. When the Corino estate was divided in 2005, Renato established his own estate with family vineyards located in the prized La Morra crus of Rocche dell’Annunziata, Arborina and Pozzo. He now runs the estate with his son and daughter Stefano and Chiara.
The Corinos farm the vineyards with sustainable practices - only organic sprays to control mold and mildew, grass grown between the vines is tilled under after harvest to nourish the vineyard. In vintages where the crop is heavy, Renato carefully drops fruit twice to ensure the remaining clusters are perfectly developed. The result is certainly outstanding: Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata is a wine whose magical elegance and finesse are envied by other growers in the appellation, earning it the moniker the “Musigny” of Barolo.
