The Wine

Carneros is the wine region that has one foot in Napa and one in Sonoma. Positioned just above the Napa River's inlet, and cooled by the Bay breezes, Carneros is the coolest of either county's wine regions. This rich, classic California Chardonnay is now at its peak. Lush mouthfeel and notes of cream, poached pears and Golden apples, with a lick of bread dough on the tail. Drink now through 2021.

Oh, one more thing about this wine - this is the last of it. Renteria has discontinued their "entry level" wine label, opting instead to produce $100+ bottles on a small scale they can hand sell to their extensive list. Enjoy it while you can!

The Winery

Now a father-son operation, papa Salvatore came to Napa in 1962, years before it was on the world's wine radar. Sal learned his craft in the vineyards of some of the valleys best wineries - Sterling, Beaulieu, Clos Pegase, Cuvaison, Silverado... - earning a reputation as a curious, energetic and disciplined researcher. Sal leveraged this experience to launch his vineyard management company, now one of the most highly respected in the valley. Now his son is managing the firm, but Salvatore keeps his hand in!
