The Wine

Expresses the unique aromatic joys of Pinot Noir grown in Burgundy - red fruits, mushrooms, and cedar/leather spices that evoke a tobacco pouch. Mouth watering acidity is typical here, but 2016 was a more hedonistic vintage, yielding wines capable of producing more pleasure in the near-term. Drink now (2021) through 2030.

The Winery

Mercurey is a village that forms the spiritual epicenter of Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise. Although it was Emile Juillot who founded the Domaine and developed its terroirs, it was Emile's wife who ran the estate, and then passed it on to her granddaughter, Nathalie, in 1987.

This type of transmission from woman to woman is quite rare, exceptional even, and is one of the Domaine’s particularities that is a source of immense pride. Today the estate is managed by Nathalie Theulot with the support of her husband.
