The Wine
Exhibiting a light-med body, with a modest 13% ABV, the wine manages to showcase Gamay's extroverted fruit notes with the earthiness of a more complex and serious wine. Bright ruby-red in color with primary aromas of fresh red fruits, followed by a chalky / wet stone fragrance. The palate is balanced - silky tannins offsetting bright, precise fruit notes.
This wine is 100% from Delaunay's organic vineyard. The family manages over 100 acres of vines in the Loire Valley, but this special 9-acres organic vineyard was purchased just 12 years ago, located next to the family's larger holdings. Deluanay's named their organic vineyard 'La Brossette' as it is accessed by the small "street de la Brosse" (brush). As they were reviewing ideas for the new label image, a small hedgehog wandered by and, 'Voila!' it was settled!
Best when served at ~55 degrees - easily achieved by a short visit to your fridge about 30-40 minutes before serving (longer on hot days).
Serving Suggestions:
Drink now through 2025 while the wine is sill fresh and flirty. This wine shows well with light summer dishes, including a simple grilled chicken, smoked meats, cheese courses and salumi platters.
The Winery
Thierry Delaunay’s 50 acres of vineyards are situated on the banks of the river Cher, about 30 miles east of Tours, in the epicenter of the Loire valley's Touraine region. These vineyards surround the family winery and have been cultivated by generations of Delaunays - Joel is now the fifth generation. Each year, the Delaunays have pursued ever-higher standards, combining the best of tradition with the latest winemaking technology.
