The Wine
A blend of Syrah/Cinsault/Mourvedre and Grenache (this year, the blend is 25% each). The wine is fruity on the nose and palate with fragrant, wild strawberries and red licorice leading the way to a soft, dry finish of lingering fruit.
Enjoy with charcuterie, salads, and lighter cheeses (fresh goat cheese would be delicious), grilled fish, seafood, poultry and even brunch dishes.
Drink now through 2024.
The Winery
The Minervois region of France’s Languedoc lost its way, wine-wise, for a number of decades, producing large quantities of affordable table wine. But La Liviniere has long been the jewel of the region and recently earned its own, separate regional designation from the EU. It's located in the South of France, within sight of the snowy Pyranees to the north and 45 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea to the South at some 750 feet above sea level, providing better phenolic ripeness from the added UV light while the cooler nights preserve the natural acidity in the grapes that is essential to the lip-smacking deliciousness this wine delivers in spades.
The estate spans almost 50 acres with its terraced vineyards some 660 feet above the town of La Livinière. The vineyard soils consist of clay and limestone and support vines with an average age of 25 years with some century-old Carignan vines and 70 year-old Grenache. Viticulture is organic and is Certified Sustainable.
