The Wine
The wine throws off a big nose showcasing spicy lemon-lime notes. The refrshing acidity with the citrus notes and a touch of earthy minerality and salinity make this a favorite summer sipper.
Pair this wine with light summer foods, salads, fish, oysters and other fruits of the sea!
The WineryChesebro (say "SCHEZZ" (rhymes with Fez) "bro") is a small family-owned winery in Monterey’s Carmel Valley. This boutique producer makes about 2,000 cases in any given vintage, consisting of 6-8 wines, each at 300 cases or less.
Such homeopathic quantities are insanely difficult to fit into a traditional business plan – the sort where, at the end of the exercise, the numbers are printed in black ink instead of red. But taste their wines and you’ll be glad the Chesebro's persevere.
Their property used to be a dairy farm where goats and sheep were raised, but the winemaker eventually returned to his roots and came to focus on wines crafted from his favorite grape varieties – those often seen as obscure little oddballs by most of his colleagues in the broad mondo vino.
Chesebro's use little or no new oak, allowing each vineyard's unique characteristics to take center stage. Chesebro also harvests a bit early to make sure high alcohol doesn’t mask any of the wine’s nuance they work so hard to showcase.
