The Wine

In its current, youthful stage, the wine is dens ruby red and inky. As it ages, look for the color to fade to garnet. Swirl the glass and dive into the bowl nose-first and you'll be welcomed by aromas of bot red and dark fruits - cherry, ripe plum and bramble berries. On the palate the wine is full-bodied with a rich, long and lingering finish. As the wine ages in the coming decade, look for notes of leather and dried cherries to become more pronounced.

The Producer

The Attilio Contini Winery was founded in 1898 by Salvatore Contini. Some consider it to be among the highest tier of the Sardinian wine scene. The Contini family’s journey has been long and exciting. Nowadays Attilio, Salvatore’s son, carries on his father’s work, enlarging the winery and increasing the vineyard acreage.

As with many successful European producers, Contini leverages their strong winemaking traditions while incorporating modern innovations. They claim that this opennes, along with something they describe as the “Sardinian touch”, appears in every bottle of Contini wine.
