The Wine

Though Prosecco is enjoying a surge of popularity in the U.S., Franciacorta is Italy's more serious (and pricey) sparkling wines. These wines are produced in the style of Champagne - with the secondary fermentation occurring in the same bottle you're holding, not fermented in a large steel vat like Prosecco. The wine then spends at least five years on the lees before final bottling without dosage. It's a more expensive wine because it is more complex and interesting!

This is a blend of 95% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Nero. Upon pouring a glass, you'll immediately notice this is a more serious sparkling wine - less apple-driven and more brioche-like richness. This is a delicious wine from Italy's Lombardy region (just South of the Swiss Alps - think of Clooney sippin' on this Franciacorta while sitting beside Lake Garda!)

Look for aromas of delicate ripe fruit - ripe yellow peaches, candied orange peels, small red berries, floral honeysuckle, brioche bread and vanilla nougat. A light note of strawberry blends with the wine’s complex and full-bodied aromas. Finishes with a slight and most pleasant salinity.

The Winery

Corte Bianca is an organic, woman-owned winery producing laser-focused, bright and incredibly vibrant Franciacortas from one of the coolest sites in the Region. The micro climate here is key, the vineyard is nestled between the lake and the mountains with woods on the side creating insulation from other estates. The temperature range also influences these bright, mineral, sparklers with laser-like acidity and unbelievable finesse.
