The Wine
This wine begins with a beautiful garnet color with purple highlights, now beginning to show a bit of brickish color from its bottle age. The nose is rich and complex with beautiful concentration of flavors. Black fruit (blackberry) is dominant on the nose with secondary notes of garrigue. On the palate, this powerful wine exhibits great complexity with silky tannins – very smooth and luxurious on the pallett.
Pair this wine with hearty fare and it will transport you to the South of France faster than the TGV.
This remarkable vineyard, name for the truffle-bearing oaks that surround it, produces a deliciously rich wine with a signature cocoa scent. Aged in used barriques (2-6 years old), it is unexaggeratedly ripe and stately, confident in its bearing and refined in its finish. It will please its many followers.
La Truffière is rich, layered, and complex. It is now in it's prime drinking years. Enjoy now through 2022.
The Winery
Long considered the leading producer of this Rhône district, Henri (and now with his daughter, Nathalie) Bour makes wines of head-turning aromatic quality and strikingly accurate Syrah character. He also spearheaded the appellation’s change of name, in order to avoid the nuclear stigma associated with the previous name of Coteaux du Tricastin.
The area of Grignan-Les-Adhemar appellation covers territories with large geological differences, resulting in an infinite diversity of wines. A"Charte de Qualité" has been drawn up, aimed at developing and stating the identity and distinctiveness of the appellation. This innovative system is capable of tracing the production from the vine and its place of origin to the market place. In 1964, Odette & Henri Bour created the Domaine de Grangeneuve. Winegrowers for many generations in Algeria, they finally chose the north of the Tricastin area, in the heart of the Rhône Valley, where there was hardly any vine at the time. They took many years to deforest, clear and prepare the land, plant and wait for the vines to start being productive and didn't complete the winery until 1974. Today, the four Bour children have taken over.
