The Wine

This wine is blended from five of Anderson Valley's Pinot Noir Vineyards, the first two of which are Handley's estate vineyards, accounting for 69% of the grapes in this wine:

Handley Estate (50%)
RSM Estate (19%)
Helluva Vineyard (15%)
Lost Creek Vineyard (9%)
Roderick Vineyard (7%)

Aromas of warm cherry pie, cola, violets, and a hint of clove and sassafrass on the finish. Round and full on the palate, flavors evoke red cherries, ripe plum, and notes of cardamom. As is common among Anderson Valley pinots, tannins and acidity are soft bright, respectively. The long finish is so long and pleasant the astute taster will linger between sips. Aged for 10 months in all French Oak barrels (25% new).

The Winery

Founding winemaker Milla Handley passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a few years ago. Today the show running duties are managed by her daughter Lulu, with the help of her husband Scott, their baby son Golden and winemaker Randy Shock.

Lulu grew up at the winery along with her older sister, Megan, taking the bus home from school each day. She took rhetoric at UC Berkeley before apprenticing at a winery in Galicia, Spain and then in small-scale, sustainable farming in Maine.

Scott met Lulu while they were both working in Maine, Scott as a craftsperson and boat builder, skills he now deploys regularly at the winery. They returned to Anderson Valley in 2016 and have since adeptly taken control of its reins.
