The Wine

Crafted by the talented young winemaker Brad Jonas (of Minus Tide and others), this is an elegant New World pinot with ambitious Old World aspirations. A light style wine expressing tea of jasmine pearls, black cherry, strawberry/rhubarb and sweet pie spices. About a third of the grapes underwent whole cluster fermentation, resulting in hints of black tea, floral and redwood forest (or is that the power of suggestion? The vineyard is next to the family's redwood tree farm!?)

The Winery

Harpe Ranch is located at approximately 1,500’ elevation on the north side of the small town of Philo (pop ~350) in Mendocino County's famed Anderson Valley. The valley is world famous for cool climate Pinot Noir like this one.

Warm days and cool nights make for perfect growing conditions for pinot vines. The 47+ year old vineyard was recently rehabilitated by preserving the healthy old vines and replacing unhealthy old vines new pinot vines. The old vines are Swiss Clone 2A-Wadenswill and the new vines are 667 and 1616C (for the true pinot geek!).

Owned by Redwood & Wine Family LLC, the ranch is also a working redwood tree farm.
