The WinePetit Sirah is often over-looked at the wine shop, destined to collect dust as it sits on the shelf week after week. Not because it's not a great wine, but because it's known for being a blending wine for Zinfandel. Or, when bottled on its own, at its best after a couple decades of bottle age!
This one is likely to reward the patient collector, BUT it's very, very attractive now! Despite its hefty 14.5% ABV, it's on the lighter side of Petite Sirahs, allowing greater near-term drinkability.
Bright fruits and subtle spice notes under the dominant aromas of freshly ground black pepper (which will subside over time) with appetizing notes of vanilla Coke and blackberry jam. Pair with BBQ, stews, meats brazed or grilled and even dark chocolate.

The Winery
If you've ever noticed how dogs and their owners tend to look alike, this would be the wine equivalent. This wine is big and boistrous, and so is the winery's owner, Theodora Lee.
When she enters the room a force of nature soon follows, sweeping all arond her into her enthusiasm, her likes and dislikes and her strong opinions. Now a San Francisco trial attorney, Theodora grew up on a farm and cattle ranch in Texas. So when she graduated from law school and settled in Northern California, she found respite in the rural nature of Mendocino's Anderson Valley/Yorkville Highlands, where she planted her namesake vineyard - Theopolis - where she is known as "Theo-patra", Queen of the Vines.
